Bassel has sent a letter from his cell in Adra Prison that presents his side of the story of his arrest. This is as counter to the story offered in this video I recently shared on this site. He requested that this letter be shared immediately.
The Original and Actual Letter was written by Bassel by hand in Arabic. A copy of it is shown above. An English translation appears below (eventually). But this is a good opportunity to demonstrate the current “facilities” available to an Internet user for translating handwritten documents from Arabic into English, and to document how much we need each other, as humans, to share and decipher messages.
We will take a short journey through attempts to translate the message contained in this image using only my computer (and the Internet). First: OCR Conversion to text, pasted into Google translate.
